This was a long weekend with many ups and downs. In the

Friday Prelims Kelsie qualified 1st in the 50 and 3rd in the

100.  MaryRose had a very difficult outing on Friday and

qualified 10th in Diving and bounced up to 3rd on Saturday.

PRELIMS

Senior Standout JoAnne Pohl placed 28th in the 100 Free posting

a strong 55.73.  She then finished 20th in the 100 breaststroke. 

In true Polh fashion she wrapped up her high school career with

an 18th place finish in the 400 Free Relay with teammates

Schooley, Molly Gray & Chelsea Hicks.  Way to go JoAnne, you

did it the right way!!!!!!!!

Getting her first taste of individual swimming at the State Final

level was Molly Gray who as a sophomore posted a :57.42 in

Friday's Prelims.

Wrapping up an outstanding high school career was Chelsea Hicks

who swam on the 200 & 400 freestyle relays.  Chelsea is a long

time club swimmer who had an excellent high school career.

Also wrapping up her high school swimming career was Rhandi

Hicok who also swam on the 200 freestyle relay.

Also gaining experience & motivation for next year are Sophomores

Monique Pentecost and Katrina Majeske who both had outstanding

performances in Holt Ram Relays.

Saturday Finals

Saturday saw true Holt Ram drive and focus.  Schooley posted

a 23.75 making it two in a row and becoming a back to back State

Champion and 4-time All American.  She knew that winning the

100 free would be a tall order but she gave Ann Arbor Pioneer's

Hannah Cowley all she could handle and posted a school

record 51.67 in the process.

MaryRose Hillstrom showed what a champion does when things

don't go as planned in Prelims.  MaryRose, thrilled a packed EMU

by out diving every other diver in the building.  She nailed

everything.  Her score of 54 on her 2nd dive in the finals was the

highest score awarded any dive, prelim or finals.  She moved

from 10th to 3rd proving that it's never over.  The 1st & 2nd place

divers should send MaryRose a thank you note because everyone

in the building knew that standing on the 3rd place podium was

the best diver in the state.

Overall the team performed extremely well earning 4 additional

state cuts and setting 3 more Conference & Pool records.

By winning 2 individual events, setting 2 pool records and 2

conference records.  Kelsie Schooley was unanimously voted the

Swimmer Of The Meet named after the late Rick Edwards.

Kelsie Schooley, working out of Lane #1 set the 50yd Freestyle

mark at 24.22.  High flying MaryRose Hillstrom impressed the

crowd with her 308.1  Very nice job ladies!!!!

Molly and Chelsea wowed the stands going 1-2 in the 200.  Molly

coming in at 2:08.19 & Chelsea with 2:08.92.

Chelsea came back in the 500 finishing 2nd with her best time

of the year, 5:43.99.  Hey Chelsea....33.2 in the last 50!!! WOW

All 4 swimmers in the 200 Free Relay went sub :30.

Schooley 24.38, Molly Gray 27.12, Rhandi Hicok 28.36 & JoAnne

posted a 27.63. 

Overall there were many excellent swims and we're ready to

get to the CAAC Meet.

Told ya...Molly Gray skipped the 59's and

went straight to 58.9 in the 100 Freestyle

Yes, hard work and perseverance does

pay off.  She also went 1:11.85 in the

100 yd backstroke.   Well done Molly!!!

Kelsie Schooley was 4/100 off of the

200yd freestyle varsity record with an

impressive 1:56.30.  Very nice swim.

Sr. Diver Arielle Dyer had a very good

night posting a 2nd place finish 210.70.

Last duel meet of the season will be on

Tuesday at St. Johns.

record posting a 296.65.  This young lady has

stepped up the DD and it's paying off big time.

The fun really started when during the National

Anthem, Sam Lundy fell in the pool, warm-ups and all.

Good thing she can swim.

    Here's the controversy of the evening. 

Did Kelsie really split a 22.07 in the 200 yd Relay. 

According to the Mason scoreboard, YES.  According

to math it was more like 23.45.  It's kind of like having

Spartan Bob on the clock.  Maybe it was, maybe

it wasn't.  For a brief moment, we all believed it.

Kelsie's 200yd Free came in at 1:57.09. Not to bad.

JoAnne went 1:07 in the 100 back.

Holt went 1-2 in the 100 Fly.  Molly 1st @ 1:17.88

Nikki Hartsuff in at 2nd place with 1:18.16.

was a tough night for the Rams.  Let's

MaryRose finished 7th in diving and let the rest of the

state know that she'll be contending for the state title.

Kelsie Schooley placed 2nd in the 50 yd freestyle and also

put the D-1 community on notice that she is still ready to race.

Congratulations to MaryRose Hillstrom who broke the

9 year old Pool Record at Okemos and at the same

time broke the Holt Varsity Record.  Way to go

MaryRose with a 280.5 performance.

Other notable performances were Kelsie Schooley.

Kelsie missed the 500 yd Freestyle Holt Varsity

Record by 3.22 seconds.  Somebody please tell

her that the 500 record is out of her reach, she

swims much faster when she's p@#%ed off.

Way to go Katrina Majeske, 1:10.84.  A 7 second drop

from last week and fresh off of shoulder surgery.  Also

you really need to watch her backstroke turns.
